Typography Practice

This shows the idea phase of creating a new typeface.

Here is the start of the first font I was creating,
showing the developments and experiments
on each letter.

And here is the rest of the alphabet and the numbers.

This is a font I created called Spiralphabet. I used spirals in every letter, which I why I gave it that name.
I like this font because it is simple and can be used for almost any theme but is still interesting and unique.

This is the experimental stage of my second font
with the development under each letter.

And here are the numbers for the second font.



This is Stickography, the second font I created. It is much more rigid and stiff than the first font but can
still be used for almost any theme and it still very simple.



And here is my final font at it's current stage. This one is much more complicated and would not have lower case letters.
I have created this one by drawing pencils together in the shape of each letter, although almost an stationary item could be placed there.

Fine Arts Practice

Here are some eyes that I drew using pencil for some, and fineliner for others.
I feel confident in drawing eyes after these practice ones.

These are noses that I have drawn with pencil. I think I need a lot more
practice with noses as these do not look very realistic.

These are some lips that I have drawn in different poses using pencil,
fineliner, and coloured pencil. I'm confident with lips. 

Here is a hand I drew using pencil and shading by smudging. I think
I will need more practice with hands too.

This is a clenched fist that I have drawn
using different width fineliners to create
a cartoon fist.



Here I have sketched a relative on her wedding day using a
pencil, smudging to shade. I need more practice with the
shading and with drawing hair.

 

Here I have drawn a much older lady using pencil but have then used fineliner
on some of the lines to make it more cartoon like rather than realistic.

This is a water painting of a blossom tree. I like the way this looks and the effects that can be made
using water paints.



Final Pieces for Snow White and Rose Red Book Cover Brief

This bookmark was created on
Adobe Photoshop. I used the
photographs of the roses that I had
edited and added patterns in the
background that look like falling
red and white petals. I then added the
phrase "Snowy White, Rosy Red,
Will you beat your lover dead"
as said by the bear in the story.
 I put a hole in the top and twisted
 a purple ribbon around it.

Here is the bookmark in a book, showing how it would look when
it is being used. The ribbon would poke out of the top of a closed
book allowing the reader to easily find their place.
 






Here is one of the covers I created. I used the two edited roses, which I
slightly overlapped, and then added the petals in the background.
 I wrote the title in a gothic font as it fits with the story and
with the authors. The cover is simple but looks professional.




This shows the first book at different angles.
 





Here is the other cover I created. I made the cottage on
Photoshop, painting several bricks individually and then placing
them together in random orders using copy and paste. I did the
 same with the roof tiles. For the door I used a similar technique
and then made the extra bits separately.The windows were created
using the rectangle tool and the paintbrush tool, and I hand painted
the girls in them with acrylic. I made the trees using edited photographs
 of bits of ribbon cut like leaves and the roses. The trunk I made using
the paint tool on Photoshop. I used a grass art brush on Photoshop
for the grass, spray brush for the gravel, and the soft edged paintbrush
 for the clouds. Again, I used a gothic font. I don't feel this one looks
as professional as the first.
